CLIENT PROFILE: Established over 70 years ago, this Washington, DC-based nonprofit works with its insurance-based subsidiaries to serve military families. Staff includes over 200 individuals with an operating budget of over $100M.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Client requested to migrate their email platform from an on-premise Lotus Notes environment and a Google App Mail solution to a Microsoft Office 365 tenant, enabling the next generation of email and office collaboration tools for the client, improving business efficiencies, and providing better compatibility with line of business applications, and an enhanced user experience. Due to the use of Lotus Notes, Canalini recommended a co-existance tool to allow users more time to transition to the new environment and enable a rich experience with no interruption in service.

APPROACH:

Discovery and Design Phase

  • Worked with the client team to ensure thorough discovery of the current environment
  • Hosted onsite white boarding sessions and training

Configuration and Implementation Phase

  • Acting onsite, deployed various components of the new environment, including:
    • Provided classroom training and scheduling
    • Comprehensive suer acceptance testing plan
    • Testing and validation prior to proceeding with migration phase

Migration and Training Phase

  • Corporate Trainer delivered three methods of training for end-users onsite
  • Canalini synchronized users to Office 365 and assigned licenses, configured DNS record cut-over, staged email and archive data, and reported migration batches

Project Close Out and Support Phase

  • Decommissioned co-existence environment
  • Hosted project close out meeting and provided 100 transition support hours
